Arras attack: only Mogouchkov tried, no case against brother and cousin
The justice system orders a trial against Mohammed Mogouchkov for the murder of teacher Dominique Bernard in 2023, but rejects prosecutions against his two close relatives.

Justice: partial validation of committal for trial
Investigating magistrates ordered a trial against Mohammed Mogouchkov on Wednesday, the main suspect in the Arras attack, according to BFM TV. The magistrate will face charges of "terrorist murder", "attempted terrorist murder" and "terrorist criminal association" for the facts of the attack on 13 October 2023.
Teacher Dominique Bernard was killed in this attack which also wounded other people. The investigations conducted since have established, according to the judges, sufficient charges against the main suspect only.
By contrast, the magistrates ordered a discontinuance of proceedings against Mogouchkov's brother and cousin. The judges found that the evidence gathered did not justify prosecutions against them, although the national anti-terrorism prosecutor had requested their committal for trial last June.
The prosecutor retains the possibility of appealing this decision. The date of Mogouchkov's trial has not yet been set. A formal communication of the decision was sent on Wednesday to the various parties.
