Three thieves arrested in Dijon

According to Actu17, three suspects were apprehended in Dijon during the night of Thursday to Friday after reversing a car through the window of the Hermès boutique, place Grangier, at approximately 4.30 am. Officers from the anti-crime unit, emergency police and the canine unit arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested the three suspects directly inside the shop, who were immediately taken into police custody.

The store's alarm was triggered automatically and residents also called the police after hearing the sound of impact. According to a source close to the matter, the offenders were not from Dijon. They had positioned a second car nearby to facilitate their escape; both vehicles used had been stolen.

The shop manager, who has run the establishment for more than thirty years, told Ici Bourgogne he had never experienced such an incident. "We were lucky because the anti-crime unit arrived in 5 minutes," he said. The suspects took a number of scarves but failed to break through the reinforced security windows of the shop. The interior of the premises nevertheless sustained significant damage during the break-in.

An investigation has been opened and assigned to the organised and specialised crime division (DCOS).
