Trappes suspect: violent history in preceding days

According to Actu17, Kévin T., 39, had been apprehended on 20 October in Levallois-Perret following a violent altercation between motorists at a petrol station. The Nanterre public prosecutor's office confirmed on Thursday that proceedings for violence had been initiated against him on that date, after a driver had filed a complaint for assault and use of tear gas.

During this incident on 20 October at 11.20, municipal police officers in Levallois-Perret found a tear gas canister which Kévin T. said he had used to protect himself. The victim, assisted by emergency services, presented with a left maxillary haematoma and rib contusions, according to the medical certificate issued at 12.02.

Questioned at the police station in a voluntary interview that same day at 11.52, Kévin T. received a summons for a further interview scheduled for 23 October at 09.30 — the very morning of the attack. The complainant came to the police station on the evening of 20 October to file a complaint, recounting that he had received tear gas to the face and blows after asking to move a vehicle to get petrol. He reported having also heard the attacker say: "I'm going to kill you, you son of a bitch, you'll see."

A summons to the medico-legal unit was handed to the complainant to assess his inability to work. On 22 October, investigators requested CCTV footage from the petrol station, which could not be provided before 27 October according to the authorities. The complainant did not respond to police calls on 22 and 28 October, and did not attend the medico-legal unit.

The Nanterre public prosecutor's office stated that this case was only brought to its attention on Thursday, after the attack. Three days after this altercation, Kévin T. opened fire in Trappes and La Verrière around 10 o'clock, killing Pengo Bossio Wangi and injuring seven other people. He was apprehended at 10.20 in Coignières.

Kévin T. was sent for trial on Thursday by three counter-terrorism investigating judges for murder and attempted murders in connection with a terrorist enterprise, with the aggravating circumstance of a racist motive. He was remanded in custody. The victim's family is questioning a possible responsibility of the state.
