Fraudsters disguised as collection agents operating in the Manche

Individuals are impersonating waste collection agents in the Saint-Lô Agglo area, according to 20minutes.fr. These fake refuse collectors are calling at residents' homes to sell them waste collection calendars, despite these documents being distributed free of charge.

In response to this scam, the district authority has issued a clear statement: "Waste collection is managed by Saint-Lô Agglo. Collection calendars are free. Agents responsible for waste collection do not carry out door-to-door sales and do not under any circumstances request money from users."

The fraudsters are exploiting the trust that residents place in public service agents in order to extract money from them. The local authority is calling for increased vigilance towards any person presenting themselves at homes claiming to represent waste collection services.

Saint-Lô Agglo also reminds residents not to hand over any money or personal information to individuals whose identity has not been clearly established. In case of doubt, residents are encouraged to contact the district authority's services directly to verify information and report any suspicious activity.
