A man in his fifties was brought before an investigating magistrate for the murder of his teenage daughter. The body of the teenager, who has been missing since March, was found on Wednesday buried in Finistère.
Brought before investigating magistrate for murder
According to BFM TV, a man in his fifties was brought before an investigating magistrate and remanded in custody on Wednesday 21 October for the murder of his teenage daughter. The Brest public prosecutor's office announced that the body of the teenager, who has been missing since 8 March, was discovered buried in the municipality of Châteaulin, south of Brest.
The suspect, born in Mayotte in 1971, was taken into police custody on Tuesday. He has admitted to his daughter's death and provided information allowing the body to be located. According to prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger, the man allegedly struck his daughter during a confrontation that occurred on 8 March 2026 at his home in Relecq-Kerhuon, in the Brest conurbation. Investigators confirmed on Wednesday the discovery of a body consistent with that of a minor.
Previous criminal record for sexual offences
The father was already under investigation and on judicial supervision for sexual offences against his daughter. Two years earlier, in November 2024, the victim disclosed in a school setting that she had been raped between the ages of 11 and 14. She had also mentioned the possible administration of a medication during these incidents.
The three minor daughters in the family were then placed provisionally, but the criminal investigation had not been able to reach a conclusion quickly. The victim did not wish to cooperate with investigators and her family had reported no information confirming or denying her accusations at that time.
Rape confirmed after disappearance
It was after the March disappearance that the victim's sisters confirmed their father's inappropriate behaviour and acts committed. In April, the man in his fifties was then brought before an investigating magistrate for incestuous rape, sexual assault on a minor, administration of a harmful substance and abduction of a minor. He faces life imprisonment.
