Police have filed criminal proceedings against 60 people for fraud, false declarations and illegal building. The case is being referred to the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance in Katerini.

Police have filed criminal proceedings against 60 people on charges of fraud, submission of false declarations and illegal construction, according to businessdaily.gr. The cases relate to incidents that occurred over the past five years in various areas of Dios-Olympos Municipality.
According to findings from the multi-month investigation, 13 people used their professional capacity to submit a total of 26 false declarations, aimed at legalising unlawful constructions. They falsely declared that the properties pre-dated 28 July 2011, whilst 30 property owners signed corresponding false signed declarations regarding the time of construction.
Four additional people are accused of legalising illegal structures through false declarations about their erection dates. The criminal proceedings also include 10 property owners allegedly responsible for illegal construction without the necessary permits, as well as three contractors-builders involved in the construction of eight of the illegal structures.
The criminal proceedings are to be transmitted to the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance in Katerini for further investigation.
