Thessaloniki Council has issued a warning to residents about a wave of fraud involving misleading text messages, as reported by typosthes.gr.
According to the announcement, messages are being sent to mobile phones — via social media applications — containing alleged violations and charges supposedly originating from the Council. The messages may include a link to a website and an RF code for payment.
The Council clarifies that these messages are counterfeit and aim at unlawfully extracting money. It urges citizens not to make any payments except through the official platform at the address politis.thessaloniki.gr, which requires connection using AAΔE codes and provides personalised information.
Regarding fraud cases that have already been reported, the Council announced that it has informed the competent authorities.
