A homicide committed last night in the Kymini area of Thessaloniki was quickly solved thanks to a decisive statement. Two men, aged 43 and 44, are now being held by police, whilst investigations into the recovery of the body from the Loudias River are ongoing.

The incident is said to have arisen from a dispute concerning illegal substances. The three men moved to a residence in the area, believing that hidden doses concealed by the victim were located there. When the substances were not found, the situation spiralled out of control.

According to what has been reported, the 54-year-old, who opened fire first, grabbed the pistol of one of his companions and shot him fatally in the head, believing he had been deceived.

The two survivors loaded the body into a vehicle and transported it to the Loudias River. To submerge it, they tied it with bricks. Officers who investigated the scene of the attack found a cartridge.

The breakthrough in the case came in the early hours of Sunday morning. A resident approached a police officer and confided that his children had witnessed the murder. He even managed to provide the number plate of the vehicle used for the transport.

With this information, the investigative authorities immediately launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the two suspects. During their arrest, the two men are said to have admitted that they threw the body into the river. The EMAK is conducting an operation to locate and recover the body.
