A major police operation was conducted in Mykonos by the Organised Crime Confrontation Directorate (DAOE), during which a drug trafficking network was dismantled. Officers proceeded with five arrests of individuals involved in the group's activities.
During searches carried out at residences and villas on the island, police officers located and seized significant quantities of various narcotics. Among the substances found were cocaine, ketamine, methamphetamine, Ecstasy tablets as well as raw cannabis.
The findings highlight the network's activity in the island's nightlife scene, which serves as a major attraction for tourists from around the world. Authorities had placed the group's activities under surveillance before proceeding with the operation.
The Hellenic Police released video footage from the moment of the raids, showing officers entering the premises and locating the narcotics. The banned substances had been hidden in particularly unusual locations, such as inside footwear and behind cooling appliances.
The arrested individuals were taken before the First Instance Prosecutor of Syros facing charges of trafficking and possession of narcotics.
