Kallithea: Four arrested for racist attack on transgender woman
Officers from the Attica Immediate Action police unit have arrested four young men who assaulted a transgender woman in Kallithea, hit her with a vehicle, and doused her with flammable liquid.

Four young men were arrested in flagrante delicto in the early morning hours of 22 May in Kallithea, accused of a violent attack on a transgender woman, according to ERT. The perpetrators are three foreign nationals aged 19 and 20 years old and one 20-year-old Greek national.
The case is being handled by the Department for Combating Racist Violence of the Attica Police Directorate, which has compiled a file for attempted grievous bodily harm and insult committed in complicity with racist characteristics.
According to police, on the evening of 21 May the accused approached the victim while travelling in a vehicle and launched repeated abusive attacks, using expressions that targeted her gender identity, whilst throwing eggs and other objects at her.
A few hours later they returned to the same location and continued the aggressive behaviour. As the woman was leaving to return to her home, they allegedly hit her with their vehicle, resulting in her being injured. Subsequently, one of the perpetrators doused her with flammable liquid whilst she was lying on the ground, according to a police authority statement.
The woman was transported by ambulance to hospital for medical care. In the course of investigations the vehicle of the accused was located, and during the search a hammer was found and seized. The arrested individuals were brought before the competent prosecutor.
