A foreign national was arrested in Corfu on suspicion of possession and trafficking of narcotic substances. The arrest was made as part of coast guard operations to combat crime.
According to information from the Hellenic Coast Guard, authorities proceeded with the arrest of the foreign national following a check carried out in the Corfu region.
In parallel, the Hellenic Coast Guard conducted inspections on vessels at two other ports. At Igoumenitsa, a departure ban was imposed and lifted on a passenger-vehicle ferry, whilst at Volos a departure ban was imposed on a cargo vessel.
Operations by coast guard authorities continue throughout the country with the aim of enhancing security at ports and combating the trafficking of narcotics and other illicit substances.
