Nine felony charges for 59 arrested in "Choriátiko" case

A series of felony charges — nine in total — as well as two misdemeanours were brought against 59 arrested individuals in connection with the case of alleged fraud and tax evasion by the owner of the "Choriátiko" bakery chain, as reported by Newsit.gr. Dozens of persons are implicated in the case.

The accused were referred to an investigating magistrate for examination. Due to the large number of arrests, two assistant investigating magistrates will assist in the investigative procedure.

Earlier, 42 of the 59 arrested were transported under police escort — with sirens and convoy — to the courts on Evelpidon Street. The remainder, who were arrested outside Attica, are expected to appear before the investigating magistrates on Tuesday, 26 October 2026.

The procedure is expected to continue late into the evening, as the 42 arrested individuals will pass one by one through the threshold of the judicial officers in order to obtain an adjournment to prepare their examinations.
