Three people were arrested for the high-profile attack on the Marfin bank branch in 2010, following advanced digital analysis of material from 15 years ago.

Three people — two men aged 42 and a woman aged 46 — were brought before the Evelpidon court after their arrest for the arson at the Marfin branch in May 2010, where three employees lost their lives from asphyxiation.
The homicide investigation was based on material that had been gathered from a previous counter-terrorism operation into explosives in 2020. At that time, weapons and explosive materials had been found in a warehouse in Koucaki. The warehouse's owner, a known anarchist, had been arrested and digital material was located in his home containing footage from a 2009 holiday.
This material could not be fully utilised in 2010. However, last year an electronic message reached the Greek FBI. Officers compared the old material with new evidence using specialised programmes and artificial intelligence.
The results were revealing. The clothing, accessories and even the body posture of three people at Marfin matched those appearing in the old photographs. A backpack with three blue stars worn by a suspect when he smashed the shop window with a crowbar proved to be conclusive evidence.
The authorities believe that 12 people participated in total in the attack, divided into groups with specific roles. Five had an active role in the arson. Of these, three were identified.
The 46-year-old defendant has been living in Great Britain for the past seven years. Her lawyer argued that her client is innocent and wishes to cooperate with the Greek authorities. An international warrant is expected to be issued against her.
The two arrested individuals held in the country face charges of wilful murder by a gang, for the deaths of Angeliki Papathanasopoulou, Epaeminondas Tsakalis and Paraskevi Zoula.
