32-year-old remanded in custody after stabbing ex-wife and her partner in Lavrio
With the agreement of the prosecutor and examining magistrate, the 32-year-old who attacked his ex-wife and her new partner with a knife at their home in Lavrio has been remanded in custody, according to Ethnos. He is to be transferred to prison.
The suspect, a Romanian national, faces criminal prosecution for attempted murder of a spouse and non-consensual assault, illegal possession of weapons, illegal use of weapons, damage to others' property and breach of restrictive conditions.
Before the authorities, the 32-year-old stated that he did not remember anything of what took place shortly after midnight on Thursday. "I don't remember anything, I had consumed pills and alcohol," he claimed, adding that he had been suffering from depression during this period.
At the same time, he alleged that the attack was not premeditated — despite, according to Ethnos, having gone to the house with two knives on him. As the reason for his actions, he cited the anger he felt because he believed he had been betrayed: the victims were living, according to what he said, in a house that he himself had built.
