False robbery report in Patras: arrest of young foreigner

A young foreigner was arrested on Tuesday, 27 October by police officers from Patras Security following evidence that the robbery report he had filed early in the morning was false. The incident is reported by Dikastiko.gr, citing tempo24.
According to the report, the young man telephoned the police claiming that two unknown individuals wearing hoods had surprised him, threatened him with a weapon, immobilised him and stole his motorcycle.
From the initial examination, however, the description of events raised suspicions among experienced police officers. The contradictions in which the young man fell during his examination further strengthened suspicions about the credibility of the report.
During the subsequent questioning, the young man admitted that the report was entirely false and explained the reasons for which he had filed it. He was arrested on the spot by officers from Patras Security.
