Police officers from the Organised Crime Combat Division of Northern Greece arrested a 27-year-old in Chalkidiki for breaching weapons legislation.

A 27-year-old man has been in the hands of prosecuting authorities since yesterday, arrested in Chalkidiki on charges of violating provisions concerning weapons.
The incident took place during a planned operation by the Organised Crime Combat Subdivision in Northern Greece. The operation was designed to combat criminal activity during the summer months, prioritising areas that attract tourists.
A team comprising police officers of various specialties, including officers from the Extortion Combat Division, the Narcotics Service and the Intelligence and Special Operations Unit, carried out checks at multiple locations. Specifically, they inspected five catering and entertainment establishments, twelve vehicles and nineteen citizens.
During a check of the motorcycle driven by the 27-year-old, authorities found a collapsible metal baton, known as a glopp, concealed in a storage case. The item was immediately seized.
The young man was brought before the prosecutor for further proceedings.
