A 44-year-old Iranian national was arrested in the capital for trafficking in crystal methamphetamine, following an operation by the Coastguard.

A foreign national aged 44 has been taken into custody by prosecuting authorities, accused of trafficking and distribution of crystal methamphetamine in the greater Athens area.
The operation was set up by the Central Port Authority of Rafina, with the participation of the Regional Drugs Prosecution Team and the Special Operations Team of Piraeus. A drug detection dog also took part in the operation.
Coastguard officers located the suspect following information that was acted upon. A search of his residence followed, where a hidden quantity of the dangerous substance was discovered. The value of the drugs seized is estimated at €6,540.
The arrested man was taken to the Central Port Authority of Eleusis, where a preliminary investigation into the case is being conducted.
