Eight people are in custody following an extensive police operation in Attica against a group that was illegally trafficking in drugs and weapons.
The operation began on Wednesday morning by officers from Athens' Serious Crimes Division, with reinforcements from OPKE and EKAM. The aim was to dismantle a network that is said to have developed illegal commercial activity at least since last December.
Among those detained is the person regarded as the group's leader. During searches, quantities of drugs and ammunition were found.
Investigations are continuing. Official announcements are expected once police actions are completed.
