Tal Dilyan on Predator: 'We never operated a system in Greece'
The founder of Intellexa denies operational involvement in the wiretapping case and seeks full acquittal at the Appeals Court.
Dilyan: 'We sell technology, we do not spy'
In an extensive statement to Newspaper of the Editors, according to Naftemporiki, Intellexa founder Tal Dilyan returns to the Predator software case, denying any operational responsibility of his company in the surveillance operations under investigation in Greece.
"We are a technology provider, not mercenaries," Dilyan states in an interview given to Dimitris Kouklomperis. Intellexa, he argues, sells technology exclusively to state services and in accordance with applicable regulations, without participating in the operation of systems or in surveillance operations.
"We never operated any system in Greece," he emphasises, rejecting any connection of the company to the acts under judicial investigation.
Criticism of political developments
Dilyan expresses dissatisfaction with the rejection of the proposal to establish a parliamentary investigative committee, believing that this institution could clarify the true facts.
He also turns against statements by the Justice Minister regarding the responsibility of "four private individuals," arguing that such statements are made before the judicial process is completed. "The rule of law requires the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise," he states characteristically.
At the same time, he expresses puzzlement that the former director of the intelligence service (EYP) was not called to testify in recent parliamentary discussions. According to him, his testimony could shed light on how companies in the sector operate.
In his statement, he also notes that parliamentary proceedings confirmed that there was no joint operational centre between the private individuals involved and the EYP.
Objective: full acquittal at the Appeals Court
Ahead of the hearing of the appeal, Dilyan announces that he will request the testimony of all relevant witnesses, with the aim of revealing the true facts.
"To date, no evidence has been presented proving that we participated in any crime," claims the Intellexa founder.
