Three Roma men have been sentenced to 13 months in prison without suspension for breaking into a residence in Moschochori.

The court of Lamia imposed prison sentences on three men found responsible for breaking into a residence in Moschochori. The verdict was issued on the first day of June 2026.
The three defendants were aged 35, 23 and 22. The crime took place in late May, when the perpetrators entered a house after having previously removed the front door. From inside, they removed jewellery, a timepiece, two watches and a mobile phone, with a total value of around three thousand euros.
In their initial statement to police, the three claimed that they had already sold most of the items they had taken. However, when they appeared before the judges, they changed their defence strategy and argued that they had intended to return everything they had seized.
The police managed to locate and confiscate only part of the stolen goods. Specifically, the mobile phone was found and returned to its owner, one of the two watches was recovered and 435 euros in cash were seized.
The single-judge misdemeanour court imposed a sentence of thirteen months on each of them. The court did not consider it appropriate to give the sentence a suspended character, either during the appeal proceedings. The reason was that the judges believed the defendants had a history of similar violations and might commit the same offence again. Thus, the three men were taken to a correctional facility to serve their sentence.
