Truck fraud in Osijek-Baranja: buyer defrauded of €15,000 through mileage manipulation
Osijek-Baranja police are searching for a fraudster who caused a 55-year-old man material damage of at least €15,000 through odometer manipulation when purchasing a used truck.

Truck purchased for €49,000 had mileage rolled back
Osijek-Baranja police are searching for an unknown perpetrator who defrauded a 55-year-old man from the county of at least €15,000 in the purchase of a used freight vehicle, according to Index.hr.
During April 2026, the man found a truck on an internet classified advertisement that was being sold by a Slovenian company. He arranged the sale with an unknown person and travelled to collect the vehicle for the price of €49,000.
One week after taking possession of the truck, he drove it to an authorised workshop. Mechanics established that the last service had been carried out three years earlier and that a significantly higher mileage had been recorded at that time than what was shown at the time of purchase.
Through manipulation of the odometer, the victim was caused material damage of at least €15,000. Police state that the investigation is ongoing and that the perpetrator has not been identified.
