Last week, early in the morning, Uskok officials and police carried out a search of the home of Oroslavlje mayor Viktor Šimunić. The action was conducted as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities related to the organisation of Christmas events in 2024.

During the raid, computer equipment and documentation were seized, and the mobile phones of the mayor's parents were also confiscated. All seized property was returned the following day with an official apology.

Some former council members have accused Šimunić of favouring certain acquaintances when awarding contracts.

The mayor's mother, Ivanka, who is struggling with serious health problems, said her telephone was confiscated, which contained all her medical history. Officials returned it to her after one day.

Šimunić told the public that citizens should not give in under pressure and that they should stand up for their communities.
