Zagreb man smuggled eight migrants, found job on Facebook
A young man from Zagreb was detained after police found eight illegal migrants in his vehicle. He received 1,200 euros for the transport.
Driver of illegal migrants sought advertisements on Facebook, received 1,200 euros
According to Index.hr, a young man from Zagreb was brought in after police stopped a vehicle in which he was concealing eight illegal migrants.
During the investigation, he explained that due to debts he had found himself in a difficult financial situation and had found an advertisement on Facebook seeking a driver to transport illegal migrants across the border. For this job he received 1,200 euros.
The prosecution requested pre-trial detention, but the suspect convinced the court that he would not commit criminal offences again. In the end he was released and will defend himself against unlawful transport of persons across the state border whilst at liberty.
