In the town of Mesagne, law enforcement has closed its investigation into four teenagers involved in unlawful activities. The case was handled at the behest of the juvenile court in Lecce.

Three of them, all minors born between 2008 and 2010, are accused of making payments with counterfeit twenty-euro banknotes. The episode came to light in February, when a shopkeeper noticed irregularities in the money he had received and alerted the authorities. Subsequent analyses, carried out also by the national monetary research centre, confirmed the counterfeit nature of the currency and made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrators.

The fourth youth, a fifteen-year-old from the area, is instead suspected of taking a scooter in the course of 2025. For him too, investigators have completed their investigative work and transmitted the documents.

In addition to punitive action, the local police headquarters continues to promote educational projects in schools to prevent youth deviance.
