Municipal officer in Sulmona jailed: 700 grammes of cocaine hidden in garage
In the garage of his home he was hiding 700 grammes of narcotics. For this reason, a 32-year-old municipal police officer resident in Sulmona has been taken into custody. The military personnel of the local Carabinieri Company executed the arrest of Ettore D'Alessandro.
The cocaine was already prepared to be sold. The magistrate of the tribunal in the city, Edoardo Mariotti, ordered the precautionary measure of imprisonment. The young man is now in the maximum security prison of Sulmona awaiting a judge to validate the arrest. His rights are being protected by lawyer Alberto Paolini.
It remains to be established whether the drugs were destined to supply other dealers or if the man was acting on his own account.
The incident is part of a series of anti-drug operations striking central Abruzzo: since the beginning of the year, at least twenty people have been arrested for drug trafficking. A few days ago a 57-year-old from Pratola Peligna was caught with 350 grammes of cocaine and cutting equipment, whilst a 55-year-old from the same town was found with over six kilogrammes of hashish and one hundred grammes of cocaine.
