Forty precautionary measures in Andria for drugs and extortion

The mobile squad of Andria police headquarters has executed 40 precautionary measures against the same number of suspects, as reported by lagazzettadelmezzogiorno.it. The charges, on various grounds, include drug trafficking, extortion, breach of house arrest conditions and failure to render assistance. The judge for preliminary investigations at Trani Court has ordered custody in prison for 25 people and house arrest for a further 15. Among those under investigation are also women.

The investigation, coordinated by the Trani Public Prosecutor's Office, established the activities of a group engaged in drug dealing in the city, run partly by individuals already subject to house detention. The extortion offences in question consisted of demands for money accompanied by threats against those who had accumulated debts. The charge of failure to render assistance is linked to a road accident whose perpetrators had fled the scene.
