The Rome District Anti-Mafia Directorate has directed an operation that has led to the arrest of four individuals accused of carrying out the explosive attack against the presenter of Report on 16 October 2025.

An operation conducted by the Carabinieri under the direction of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Rome has led to the identification and capture of the unit suspected of planting the device against journalist Sigfrido Ranucci on the night of 16 October of last year.
According to what has emerged, the detainees acted as a team on the orders of third parties, receiving payment in money. After the incident, they would have carried out actions designed to mislead police investigations.
The attack, which took place in the Pomezia area, involved methane-powered cars: the explosion could have caused far more extensive damage. The presenter of Report, in November 2025, had reported to the parliamentary anti-mafia commission that the assault had taken place just days after the broadcast's content had been published on social media, including a report on the Rovigo shipyard.
Ranucci had also clarified that he had returned home that evening unexpectedly, after having asked his security detail to pick him up and having notified only his family at the last moment.
In the same context, Senator Scarpinato had raised questions regarding a supposed tailing of the journalist ordered by Undersecretary Fazzolari, linked to investigations into mafia massacres. The response provided remained classified.
Scarpinato had also highlighted how, shortly before the explosion, a fire had broken out at the Rome headquarters of the company 42° parallelo, producer of the documentary Magma dedicated to the killing of Piersanti Mattarella.
Today Ranucci declared to news agencies: "It is necessary to understand if there are other levels." As reported by Il Fatto Quotidiano, the investigation is now focused on identifying those who commissioned the criminal action.
