An investigative operation concluded yesterday across Italian territory, conducted by law enforcement forces to combat drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The Central Operational Service directed the operation, whilst mobile police units, crime prevention units and offices of individual police headquarters intervened in the field.

The results were significant: 1,335 people were arrested, of whom 31 are juveniles. Charges filed against persons released on bail reached 2,358, with 142 minors involved. During checks, almost 300,000 people were screened, including over 15,000 young people.

From the perspective of seizures, officers recovered approximately 430 kilograms of drugs: nearly 50 kilograms of cocaine, 379 kilograms of hashish and marijuana, and 7 kilograms of heroin. Weapons were also found: 111 firearms, including rifles and a Colt AR-15 assault rifle, as well as military-grade weapons, a ballistic vest and various ammunition.

The task force gave specific attention to the phenomenon of bladed weapons among young people, recovering 250 dangerous objects: box cutters, brass knuckles, tasers, telescopic truncheons, slingshots, machetes, sabres and hatchets. Checks focused on neighbourhoods and areas around nightclubs, locations with high risk of drug consumption and violence.

The operation was made public by the State Police through the police headquarters portal (questure.poliziadistato.it).
