Final conviction for domestic abuse: 49-year-old sentenced to prison in Ravenna

An Italian citizen aged 49 has been placed in Ravenna penitentiary to serve a sentence confirmed as final: seven and a half years in custody for serious domestic crimes.

The custody order was implemented on 3 July by officers from Lugo Police Station, on the orders of magistrates from Bologna, following the final decision by judges at piazza Cavour. The case came to light in December 2023, when a report revealed the difficult conditions in which a family in the area was living.

In the course of investigations, initially handled by Ravenna prosecutors and subsequently transferred to Bologna due to jurisdiction, investigators had gathered witness statements and a large archive of images, videos, audio recordings and digital communications. The examination of this material, which continued for several months, brought to light serious suspicions of abusive conduct by the accused against his wife and three children, perpetrated from 2018 to 2023 in a family environment marked by degradation.

The subject had already been found guilty in both the first instance and the second instance for domestic maltreatment, sexual assault and possession of child sexual abuse material. With the final verdict from the Supreme Court, the convicted man was transferred to Ravenna Prison.
