Crotone: nine under investigation for attempted murder, illegal weapons and drug trafficking
Nine people have been reached by notice of closure of preliminary investigations in Crotone. The charges, issued by the local Prosecutor's Office, range from attempted murder to unlawful possession of pistols, from aiding and abetting to dealing in hashish, marijuana and cocaine.
The case has its roots in November 2024, when a man originally from the province of Salerno was hit by 7.65-calibre bullets in the Farina locality. The victim, already known to law enforcement, was in the city with a load of more than 3.5 kilograms of hashish. Two young men from the area were arrested in the following January on the order of the judge for preliminary investigations, at the request of the public prosecutor.
Over the following months, investigators from the Mobile Squad discovered that some of the suspects had attempted to cover up the traces of the assailants, obstructing the work of the inquiry officers. At the same time, evidence emerged of a drug sales activity managed through telephone appointments.
The operation is part of the strategy of the Police Headquarters, headed by Dr. Renato Panvino, to combat the narcotics market, considered the key business of criminal associations operating in the area.
