Italy is shocked by the murder of four migrants in Calabria, found charred inside a vehicle. The crime appears to be connected to the world of exploitation of agricultural workers.
According to information reported by Πρώτο Θέμα, the victims were workers from Pakistan and Afghanistan. The incident occurred in the Amendolara area, in the province of Cosenza, in southern Italy.
Those responsible allegedly blocked the van doors from outside, poured petrol on the vehicle and set it alight. The four people were trapped and burnt alive.
Italian authorities proceeded to arrest two individuals, accused of murder. Investigations continue to identify any accomplices.
The crime represents another episode of violence in the context of the system of exploitation of migrant agricultural workers, known as "caporalato", which affects the Italian countryside.
