A fifty-three-year-old man with previous convictions for residential theft was arrested for robbing the parochial house of San Giovanni Calabria. The haul: €28,000 in cash.

On 24 June last, in the late afternoon, police in Lamezia Terme stopped a 53-year-old man. The measure was issued on the orders of the judge for preliminary investigations at the local court, on the proposal of the Public Prosecutor's office headed by Elio Romano.
The crime dates to 9 October 2025. On that day, the arrested man allegedly forced his way into the parochial house of San Giovanni Calabria. To enter, he damaged a glass door, a window and a skylight. Inside he found and stole almost €28,000: it was primarily donations collected from the faithful.
He was identified through investigations by the Judicial Police Squad of the Police Station. Officers analysed biological traces and surveillance footage. The 53-year-old has previously been convicted of similar offences against homes.
The suspect is now confined to his home. It is recalled that the restrictive measure was adopted during preliminary investigations; guilt must be established at trial, in accordance with the presumption of innocence until a final judgment.
