Moroccan fugitive captured in Faenza: must serve three years for drug trafficking
During a routine check in the Faenza area, officers from the patrol unit recognised a man of North African origin who had long been untraceable. On seeing the patrol, the subject attempted to flee, but was stopped without difficulty.
The thirty-year-old Moroccan had a final conviction on his record requiring imprisonment for 3 years, 2 months and 8 days. Furthermore, the court had imposed a fine of 14,000 euros on him. The offences in question related to the manufacture and illegal trafficking of drugs.
The restrictive measure had been issued previously, but the individual had managed to evade execution of the sentence. His capture was made possible by the ability of the officers to identify known faces in their territorial jurisdiction.
Following completion of legal formalities, the convicted man was taken to Ravenna prison for admission into a detention regime.
