An Italian-Albanian criminal organisation supplied narcotics to tourist destinations on the Northern Adriatic. The operation resulted in 16 arrests and the seizure of 98.7 kilograms of drugs.

An anti-mafia investigation has led to the arrest of 16 people and the registration of a further 35 in the criminal investigation register. The group targeted had links to Albanian criminality and managed a drug trafficking network in beach resorts in Veneto and Friuli.
Carabinieri from the Trieste financial police, operating under the direction of the Milan District Anti-Mafia Directorate, confiscated nearly 99 kilograms of drugs. The seized material includes 77.7 kilograms of marijuana and 21 kilograms of cocaine. During the raid, three firearms with obliterated serial numbers, ten knives and an Alfa Stelvio equipped with hidden compartments for transporting narcotics were also found.
The evidence shows that the criminal association was active in the main summer destinations on the Adriatic coast: Lignano, Bibione, Jesolo, Caorle, Grado and Sistiana. Here the traffickers operated near discotheques, nightclubs and beaches. During the cold months, the network shifted its activities to drug markets in Lombardy, Liguria and Tuscany.
The investigation revealed illicit gains of 1.1 million euros, which were blocked by a seizure order. Designer watches and cash sums were also seized.
