Naples: man arrested with 670 grammes of cocaine and illegal firearm
On the afternoon of Friday 26 June, State Police officers arrested a 39-year-old man in the Vomero district of Naples. The suspect, already known to law enforcement, is accused of unlawful possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of trafficking, as well as unlawful carrying of a firearm and related ammunition.
The stop took place in Salita del Petraio. Officers from the General Prevention Office and Public Assistance were conducting a territory control operation when they noticed an individual carrying a rucksack and a bag. Upon seeing the patrol car, the man attempted to leave in order to evade inspection.
The police officers reached him and stopped him immediately. During the search, the reasons for his flight became apparent: hidden inside his bags were 14 packages containing cocaine, with a total weight of approximately 670 grammes. Additionally, a drum revolver with no serial number was seized, along with 86 cartridges of various calibres, a precision scale and drug packaging material.
The man was taken into custody. The operation is part of extraordinary services ordered by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug trafficking and unlawful possession of firearms.
