Raffaele Stipa, owner of the Yoghi pizzeria on Via Gran Sasso d'Italia in Reggio Emilia, was fatally stabbed at around 22:30 on Sunday 29 June 2026. According to ilrestodelcarlino.it, he was attacked by a regular customer who demanded to receive a pizza without paying for it.
Stipa died inside the restaurant. Despite emergency services arriving promptly, nothing could be done for him. His sister Antonella, who works at the restaurant, was also wounded — sustaining an injury to her arm — and was taken to Santa Maria Nuova Hospital, where she is not in danger of life.
According to police reconstruction, a quarrel broke out between the customer — described as foreign — and the pizza chef. The man was asking for yet another free pizza: according to what emerged, this was at least the third time he had made this demand. When the owner refused, the customer allegedly attacked him with a knife. "I've already given you three, that's enough now," Stipa reportedly said before being stabbed.
The pizza chef's sister attempted to defend her brother by striking the attacker, and was wounded herself in the process. The killer then fled the restaurant.
Police patrol units arrived at the scene and are attempting to reconstruct the circumstances of the attack. A manhunt has begun based on descriptions provided by witnesses present at the time of the assault.
