Pizzeria owner stabbed to death in Reggio Emilia, sister wounded: attacker at large
Raffaele Stipa, owner of pizzeria Yoghi, was stabbed and killed by a customer who was demanding a free pizza. His sister is hospitalised in serious condition.
Murder at Yoghi pizzeria: customer kills owner and wounds sister
Raffaele Stipa, in his sixties, was stabbed to death shortly after 22:30 on Monday in the Yoghi pizzeria on via Gran Sasso d'Italia, in the southern area of Reggio Emilia. According to ANSA Cronaca, the man, originally from Capo d'Orlando in the province of Messina, had lived in Reggio Emilia for many years and had run the establishment for twenty years.
The victim's sister, Antonella, was seriously wounded in an attempt to stop the attacker and is currently hospitalised at Santa Maria Nuova hospital, not far from the scene of the crime.
According to initial reconstructions, the alleged murderer is said to be a regular customer, described as a foreigner whose nationality has not yet been established. The man had asked for a free pizza; Stipa had refused, responding: "I've already given you three, that's enough." At that point the attacker struck him with a knife, also wounding his sister, before fleeing.
Police have launched an investigation and are conducting a search to locate the fugitive.
