A man in his 40s has been arrested in Reggio Emilia for the murder of pizzeria owner Raffaele Stipa, who was stabbed in his restaurant after refusing to give a free pizza.

A man in his 40s has been arrested by police in Reggio Emilia, Italy, as the suspected perpetrator of the murder of pizzeria owner Raffaele Stipa. The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, 29 June, inside the Yoghi pizzeria on Via Gran Sasso d'Italia, in the southern part of the city, near the hospital.
According to reports from ERT News, the attack was recorded shortly after 22:30. The victim, Raffaele Stipa, approximately 67 years old and originally from Capo d'Orlando in Messina province, had been running the pizzeria for around twenty years. During the assault, Stipa's sister, who was also present, was injured and hospitalised.
Initial information indicates that the arrested man, of Italian nationality, was a regular customer of the establishment. He had entered the pizzeria requesting a free pizza. Stipa responded negatively, telling him: "I've already given you three pizzas, that's enough now." The attacker then drew a knife and struck the owner, also wounding the sister who was present, before fleeing.
The murder was recorded by security cameras inside the restaurant. The video footage proved crucial for law enforcement, enabling them to identify, locate, and apprehend the suspect during the night, around 2:00 in the morning.
Contrary to what was initially suspected, the man is of Italian nationality, not a foreigner. It is also believed that the arrested man had problems with drug addiction. The entire community of Reggio Emilia, particularly residents of the pizzeria's neighbourhood, is shocked by the crime.
