Porto Torres: passenger arrested disembarking ferry with 6 kilograms of cocaine
A passenger was stopped at Porto Torres port in Sardinia whilst disembarking from a ferry with a substantial cargo of narcotics. The man was concealing six kilogrammes of cocaine in his suitcases.
The arrest took place during routine customs and police checks carried out on passengers arriving by sea. Officers, suspicious of the traveller's behaviour, decided to conduct a more thorough search of his baggage.
The search led to the discovery of the drugs, carefully concealed within the luggage. The cocaine, if placed on the market, would have yielded substantial profits for dealers.
The man was arrested for international drug trafficking and handed over to the judicial authorities. The operation confirms the attention of Sardinian law enforcement in monitoring flows of illicit trafficking reaching the island by sea.
