Four arrests for vehicle thefts across Puglia, Molise and Abruzzo
In the Foggia area, a police squad conducted a raid that resulted in the imprisonment of two people and house arrest for two others. The measure was ordered by the judge for preliminary investigations at the local Court following a request from the public prosecutor's office, in relation to multiple episodes of vehicle theft and receiving stolen goods.
The San Severo police station conducted the investigation, reconstructing a series of thefts perpetrated across three regions in central-southern Italy: Puglia, Molise and Abruzzo. According to what was established, some of the stolen vehicles were subsequently resold to other individuals who came under investigation, and who used them to commit further crimes.
Communications between the suspects took place mainly via encrypted messaging apps, with rare resort to traditional telephone calls, with the aim of evading investigation. Alongside sophisticated technologies, investigators also relied on classical methods: observations, surveillance and checks on the ground, complemented by audio-video interceptions. These activities made it possible to film in detail, and sometimes in real time, the execution of the thefts.
