The news was reported on Friday by the newspaper "Il Messaggero". The theft involves an extremely dangerous substance: fentanyl has greater analgesic potency than morphine and represents one of the main factors in overdose deaths in the United States. Its illicit use on the black market constitutes a serious threat to public health.
Health and police authorities are investigating the case to reconstruct the circumstances of the theft and identify those responsible. The quantity stolen is such as to fuel concerns about possible distribution on the illegal market.
