The Guardia di Finanza announced on Friday the seizure of 340 kilograms of cocaine described as "extra-pure" at Vado Ligure port in north-west Italy. The estimated value of the drug on the illegal market amounts to approximately €120 million. This is reported by Sud Ouest.
Agents found the narcotic substance divided into approximately 300 packages, hidden within a shipment of plantain bananas from Colombia. The operation was conducted by the Italian financial police.
During 2024, Italian authorities seized eleven tonnes of cocaine. Across the entire European Union, total seizures reached 330 tonnes, according to the latest data from the European Union Agency for Drugs (EUDA).
