Italian-Albanian drug trafficking gang dismantled in Upper Adriatic coastal resorts
Italian law enforcement has broken up an Italian-Albanian criminal organisation engaged in drug trafficking. The group supplied drugs to coastal resorts in the upper Adriatic, including Lignano, Bibione and Jesolo, as well as several areas in northern Italy.
During the operation, 16 people were arrested. The investigations involve a total of 35 individuals. Officers seized almost 100 kilogrammes of narcotic substances. Additionally confiscated were assets worth approximately 1.1 million euros and three pistols with serial numbers removed.
The tourist localities on the Adriatic coast were the organisation's main market. The gang ran a thriving drug business in the most frequented beach areas of north-eastern Italy.
