A 30-year-old man, a Nigerian citizen legally resident in Italy, has been arrested in Vigonza (Padua) for possession with intent to supply narcotics and resistance to a public official.

The Mobile Squad of Padua arrested a 30-year-old from Nigeria, legally residing in Italy, during an enhanced anti-drug operation over the weekend. The raid was carried out on 27 June in the municipality of Vigonza.
Investigators in plain clothes had placed the suspect under observation because of his continuous movements on his home's balcony, where he repeatedly entered and exited in an agitated manner. During the check, instead of cooperating, the young man reacted brutally: he shoved an officer and attempted to flee.
Stopped after a few steps, he attempted a second escape, screaming and kicking. Recaptured about two hundred metres away, he continued to resist with extreme violence, biting the police officers who were restraining him, even though he was already in handcuffs.
Subsequent searches, both of his person and his home, led to the discovery of fifteen packets in plastic material containing heroin inside, totalling over 16 grammes. A sum of 900 euros in cash was also found and confiscated.
Transferred to the police station, the Nigerian was placed under arrest for the offences of possession with intent to supply narcotics and resistance to a public official, and was placed in holding cells pending a trial with immediate proceedings. The subject had already received a final sentence in 2022 — one year and seven months in prison — for similar drug-related offences.
The head of provincial police, Marco Odorisio, issued instructions to the Immigration Office to examine the possible cancellation of the detainee's residence permit.
