A family of Bangladeshi origin was the victim of a presumed triple homicide in the Casalotti neighbourhood, on the outskirts of Rome. The 39-year-old mother, the 38-year-old father and their five-year-old daughter were found dead, struck by stab wounds. The eldest son of the family, a 20-year-old boy, was found wounded and transported to hospital. His condition was not critical, according to authorities.
The tragic discovery occurred on Friday evening, inside the apartment where the family lived. Several neighbours, alarmed by screams, had alerted the police. Eyewitnesses also reported seeing a person hurriedly leaving the crime scene.
From initial investigative reconstructions, it appears that the victims knew the presumed perpetrator of the massacre. Investigators have focused their attention on an acquaintance of the surviving son. The motives that drove the killings remain, for now, shrouded in mystery.
Forensics technicians carried out the necessary examinations in the flat, whilst investigators are analysing images from surveillance cameras in the area and data from mobile phones. The search for the suspect continues with the aid of drones.
