Cyber attack against BMS Engineering: toll revised to 40 medical practices
According to Le Quotidien, it is 40 medical practices — not 80, as reported by Reporter.lu — that were affected by the cyber attack that targeted BMS Engineering on 22 August. The company, established in Belval, has issued a statement providing several clarifications on the incident.
BMS Engineering indicates that the attack targeted "part of its activities". The company was working with these practices in the context of implementing immediate direct payment (PID). Upon discovery of the incident, "containment, restoration and security measures" were deployed.
The company also called upon "independent cybersecurity experts in order to analyse the incident, determine its scope and support the securing and restoration of the affected infrastructure".
A complaint was filed with the police. The incident was also reported to the National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD).
Investigations carried out by BMS Engineering have confirmed that no data breach had been detected. The company states "that to date, all the activities and services of its partners have been restored".
