Two men who facilitated a robbery committed in Augšdaugava district in August 2024 have been handed to the prosecutor's office. The principal perpetrators are already being examined in court.

According to vp.gov.lv, on 29 May 2026, officials from the South Latgale district office of the Latgale regional directorate of the State Police sent a criminal case to the prosecutor's office against two men who supported a robbery committed on 23 August 2024 in Augšdaugava district. Both men, born in 1988 and 1991, are currently in custody.
The criminal act was committed as follows: two men, dressed in official uniforms, arrived at a private house in Augšdaugava district, where they robbed a mobile phone and a tablet from the residents present there — a woman and a man — by using physical force and violence. The principal perpetrators — men born in 1982 and 1993 — were detained by police on 26 August 2024; the court ordered their detention.
During pre-trial investigation, it was established that two additional persons actively participated in the robbery by providing support in the commission of the criminal act. A separate criminal case was initiated against these two men. Charges were brought under Article 176, part two of the Criminal Law — for robbery committed by a group of persons by prior agreement — as well as under Article 20, part four for the role of an accomplice, and under Article 273 for the unlawful appropriation of the title of a state official with the intention of committing a criminal act.
The case against the principal perpetrators was sent to the prosecutor's office on 16 December 2024; it was transferred to court for examination on 6 January 2025.
The State Police reminds that no person is considered guilty unless their guilt is proved in the manner prescribed by law.
