On Sunday, 14 June, in Lūznava parish, Rēzekne district, border guards conducted a vehicle pursuit, which resulted in the detention of six people without valid travel documents. These individuals had previously illegally crossed the Belarus and Latvia border, the State Border Guard reported.

The incident occurred in the territory of eastern Latvia, where the border guard regularly conducts patrols and control measures. During the pursuit, border guards managed to stop the vehicle and detain the persons inside it.

All six detainees were without valid travel documents, indicating illegal border crossing. The State Border Guard is continuing an investigation into the incident.

Latvia's eastern border with Belarus is one of the European Union's external borders, and its monitoring is a priority task in ensuring national security. In recent years, the border guard has intensified control measures in this region.
