Fugitive arrested in Ventspils — Saimons Paucis remanded in custody
Ventspils police arrested Saimons Paucis, born in 1999, who had fled from authorities. A court remanded him in custody in his absence.
Man who fled from State Police officers arrested in Ventspils
Google News LV — Crime (lv) reports that State Police officers in Ventspils were searching for Saimons Paucis, born in 1999, after he fled from officers. The man was previously detained for driving a vehicle while intoxicated and without a valid driving licence.
Paucis is approximately 170 cm tall; at the time of his escape he was wearing grey tracksuit clothing with white sports shoes. The State Police indicated that there was no information suggesting the man posed a danger to those around him.
As part of search operations, Operation "Traps" was implemented, which resulted in increased police checks being observed in Ventspils. Later that same evening Paucis was arrested.
A judge remanded the man in custody in his absence as a security measure. The State Police have initiated criminal proceedings against Paucis for escape, as well as an internal investigation.
