A court has found former Jēkabpils Mayor and current city council deputy Leonīds Salcevičs guilty of forging the annual report of basketball club "Jēkabpils", according to Latvia Television on 7 May.
Salcevičs, who previously led the Jēkabpils municipality, continues to serve as a city council deputy. The court verdict concerns his actions related to the falsification of the sports organisation's financial documentation.
Annual report forgery is a crime that may involve entering false data, concealing actual revenue or expenditure, or other actions intended to create a false impression of an organisation's financial condition. Such actions may be carried out to conceal misappropriation of funds, obtain unjustified financial gain, or deceive state institutions.
